Frequently asked questions
What is therapy and how does it work?
Therapy (also called counseling or psychotherapy) is a safe, confidential space to explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors with the help of a trained professional. Together, we identify challenges, build coping tools, and work toward goals that matter to you.
How does using insurance work?
I currently accept Aetna and Cigna insurance. If you have either of these insurance types, I will confirm on our initial intake call. I will then confirm your coverage (deductible and co-pay) with our billing team using a photo of the front and back of your card. Once I have more information around your coverage, I will confirm with you your co-pay and coverage before going forward with an initial session.
What happens in a typical session?
In a 50 minute session, we will cover a variety of topics—explore patterns, emotions, current and past challenges. My approach may also include expressive arts in sessions. We will explore your goals and hopes for therapy and tailor sessions accordingly to what feels right for you!
How often should I be scheduling sessions?
I recommend beginning with weekly sessions as we begin building the therapeutic relationship- trust takes time! Therapy works best when it is consistent because it offers us the chance to build momentum, stay in a flow, and offer you a consistent space to process and share.
